    About the Kelly schedule

The Kelly schedule is a 9-day rotation for 24-hour shifts: work 24 hours, 24 off, 24 on, 24 off, 24 on, then four days off. Three platoons take turns so one is always on duty, and each works 3 shifts every 9 days, an average of 56 hours a week.

The name is also used for a "Kelly day": an extra scheduled day off that some departments add to a 24/48 rotation to cut weekly hours. Departments use the term differently, so compare this calendar with yours before you plan around it.
